French artist supports BLINKSONIC°.. Discover MOWUKIS..
This is one of those virtual meetings that I want to highlight, here to talk about MOWUKIS, a Montpellier-based songwriter Louis-Louise Kay. It is also an opportunity to support the independent scene.
MOWUKIS is one of those rare projects where the singing performance reinforces its story telling with a delicate and sought-after sound universe.
Behind his/her appearances as a melancholic narrator poet, Louis-Louise is also a pure geek and sound designer, who demonstrates with each release his/her taste for experimentation and sound collages.
It is undoubtedly through this enthusiasm for exploration that we connected.
Here you can listen to one of these albums, which dates back to September 2020, but which always forces a certain interest to taste the artist’s sound approach.
And to thank this mutual admiration, here are his/her own words about BLINKSONIC° instruments:
“Blinksonic is a pretty unique take on what a software synth should be. It’s so unapologetically radical in its visual expression of routings, fx and sound manipulation, that it feels more like exploring an alien sonic space than using a tool. But the real feat to me is that every instrument manages to remain playful and immediate, versatile enough while still quite cleverly curated in its features and scope. In my workflow, I tend to resample long stretches of improvisation with Voz and Cataliz that I then reshuffle to insufflate textural identity to the sonic backdrops. I love the type of sounds I can quickly invoke out of those two, they can make a whole track shine very differently. For more percussive/rhythmic oriented mayhem, my two favorites are Collidz, an incredible idea generator that can spawn a whole track in one jam session, and Ruidoz which I find great to quickly add some chaotic playfulness to more straightforward rhythm parts.”
